Who am I?

I’m a British-born, London-based, half-Jamaican Senior Product designer.

How did I get into design?

After working as a financial analyst for 5 years at a FTSE 100 media & advertising conglomerate, I got my first taste of UX when I decided to streamline some of our reporting processes. I realised that my colleagues and I were spending too long manually building lengthy reports. After condensing these spreadsheets and automating a lot of the processes, our productivity increased, as the time spent building these reports halved.

As a result, I wondered if there was a discipline out there that focused on making people’s lives easier - I discovered UX design.

After realising this, I enrolled on a Design Bootcamp and studied as much as I could about UX and UI design, regularly working late into the evenings and on weekends for over a year; all whilst working full-time as an analyst.

Where am I currently working?

Recently, I’ve been working at Salary Finance as a Senior Product Designer.

Salary Finance is a rapidly growing fintech company that’s mission is to help users get back control of their finances.

I lead and own the design process for all of the Borrow products.

Stunning User Interfaces: My strong UI skills allow me to craft visually captivating interfaces that leave a lasting impression on users. I understand the importance of aesthetics and user interaction principles in creating designs that engage and delight the audience.

Client Collaboration Expertise: Over the years, I have worked closely with clients and stakeholders to bring their visions to life. By actively listening to their requirements and concerns, I establish strong working relationships that foster effective communication. This collaborative approach ensures that the final product not only meets their expectations but also aligns with their business objectives.

Mentoring and Empowering: As a natural mentor, I take great joy in guiding and nurturing junior designers. I believe in fostering a supportive environment where they can grow and excel in their careers. By providing constructive feedback and offering valuable learning opportunities, I have witnessed them develop into great designers.

What else do I do?

When I'm not working you will probably find me in the kitchen (cooking and eating... mainly eating), watching football (come on Arsenal!) or Formula 1, exercising at the gym, searching for the latest craft beer, or endlessly surfing the net in search of funny gifs.
